Not going to lie. Cleaning out your closet is one the most dreadful and sometime emotional things. As I pull out each piece of clothing I think back to the last time I wore it and all the fun memories that I had in it. On the other hand, its sad to think about the fact that I no longer have a use for the item for a variety of reasons; sizing, style, fit.
With spring quickly approaching it is time to give your closet a deep cleaning and a fresh start. Below I am sharing my tips on how to decide what pieces to keep or part with, who to give the clothes to, and how to best organize your NEW CLOSET.
WHAT TO KEEP, WHAT TO PART WITH
Simple, right? Not so much. You might have a handful of items in mind that are going straight to the PART WITH pile, but other piece you may have no idea what to do with. It's important to always keep staple items; jean jacket, white t-shirt, tan sweater. Though if you have more than 3 of each type of item, consider getting ride of the rest. There is no need to have more than one when they look so alike. For items that were super trendy a few months ago but maybe not so much anymore, think about a way to wear the item in a new way. If you can't, toss it into the PART WITH pile. Any piece that you don't find yourself wearing because of the pattern, style, size, or comfort should also be put in the PART WITH pile. Trust me, you won't miss them. Finally if you are seriously not sure what to do with the piece keep it until you have an opportunity to wear it, and if you don't PART WITH it.
WHO SHOULD I GIVE MY CLOTHES TO?
If you want to make some $$$ off of your closet clean out, consider selling your clothes to Platos Closet. If your items are in good condition and still in style they will be sure to take them and give you cash on the spot (very key)! Another choice is always selling them on eBay, or even a local thrift store.
No matter where you live, clothes donations are in high demand. If you don't want to make money, and rather have the good feeling of donating your clothes to someone in need, considering taking your pile to the following:
ORGANIZING YOUR CLOSET
I have found that organizing my closet by color and then inside each color section by sleeve length is the best. I hang all my tops together, all my dresses together, as well as all my skirts together. This makes your closet most efficient when you go to pick items to wear.
So happy that it is FINNNNALLLY sweater season! It was crazy how fast the temperature dropped, but I am not complaining because that means it is time to pull out the sweaters that I have been dying to wear.
Each year there are types of sweaters that are really trendy for the season. In this post I am going over my top 4 sweater styles for the season. And I am linking (with the pictures) my favorite sweaters of that style.
I am obsessed with this long pink cardigan (for under $20)!!! It is the cutest accent piece but is also amazingly soft compared to most cardigans. I loved it so much I had to find a way to wear it not once, but two times.
Personally, when it comes to picking out clothes it is important to think about how many ways you can wear the piece you are buying. For sure I own pieces that are so extravagant that I only wear it once. BUT finding key staple pieces is really important to having a versatile closet. I am wearing an X-Small, but could have easily fit into a small for reference.

Since they are sure to run out of sizes and the color here is a look alike at the same price point. The shoes that I am wearing are so cute and match everything. These are great for running errands and easy to put on and off. I am wearing a size 8 in the shoes and would recommend going down a half size. This purse is also super fun, becuase it is SUPER CHEAP!!!

I love all the yellows, reds, and oranges of fall. Though sometimes I feel that army green in underestimated when it comes to outfits for this bright season. Army green is great because it contrast the brightness of the leaves and still does not clash with the environment.
In this look I am wearing a camouflage t-shirt dress, a long demin jacket, and high over the knee boots. These all fall into the darker color pallet, and would look good on really anyone.
T-Shirt dresses are an easy go to outfit during the spring. For this fall look on the other hand wearing a t-shirt dress with a long denim jacket and over the knee boots allows this look to be more dressy and warm for the changing weather.
Thanks for stopping by Blonde in Pink! This is a spot for me to share everything from fashion to travel. I am currently based out of Philly but I am always visiting new places. If I had two words to describe my fashion it would be "Boho Chic". I started this blog in 2015 with inspiration to share my fashion ideas with friends and family, and soon Blonde in Pink began.
