'Some people say blood is thicker than water. Though when you make your friends as close as your family, you will find that biology holds no key to your relationship with someone. Something that is prominent in high school but holds true in every stage of your life, is there are different types of friend groups. Cliques are basically what make up high school. It's honestly sad to think about it, but there are groups of friends that just want to stick to themselves and are not very welcoming. It's easy to spot these people at lunch or at a football game when they are not whiling to open up their arms to someone in need of a new friend.
I am so very lucky to have some of the greatest, most intelligent, strong people to be my BEST friends. Despite the fact that half of our texts and snap chat conversations involve joking around and making playful fun of each other, in the end of the day we are always there to support one and other. My friends allow me to both reach outside of my comfort zone but also help keep grounded.
Psychology tells us the reason that we keep friends or have the friends that we have is because they are an asset to our lives. In one view point, physiology tells us we only have friends so that we can "use" them. On the other side, it tells use that we have friends that will be equal an benefit to you and your friend.
Here's the amazing part of my friends: we all have different goals and want to help each other succeed. It's all about team work. It's important to (1) stand up for you are your friends (2) be whiling to share when you are upset at them (3) be open to change
I know sometimes it's nice to think that you don't need anyone else in your life to be happy but yourself. This mind set, won't last very long. It is truly crucial to have friends that will be part of your life for both the good and bad. Having fare weather friends in high school, I feel is common. Though with a solid group of friends who you are able to trust, just as much as they are able to trust you, you will find yourself more happy.
Friendship is a two way thing. It's important that YOU are making an effort too to have a good friendship and not just the other way around.
I have the 4 worlds' best girlfriends to live up every moment with. Each with their own personality and style I cherish each moment we have together.
It's funny how Grace (picture on the right), Hannah (picture to the left), and I met. The reason for sharing is because it was both fashion related.
Grace and I were both in the same 7th grade science class. As we were waiting one day for the bell to wring she asked me if the scarf I was wearing was Marc Jacobs. It was actually from target, but anyways we needed having a full conversation about fashion and becomes friends from there.
Friends in like to twin, just not when it is accidental. Hannah and I both showed up to our 8th grade promotion ceremony wearing the same Lilly Pulitzer Shift dress. Of course we were both mad at this fashion disaster. Though we were able to put our feelings aside and bond over the ironic situation.
My close nit group of 7 friends practically go everywhere together. I can't think of the last time I spent a weekend without seeing them. I didn't understand how best friends could change your life until I became besties with them. As thankful as I am for them, I am also honored to have them as my friends. They are truly people who I believe will leave an impact on the world and in 50 years.
Despite all our ups and downs as a group, LUCKY does not even begin to describe how I feel about having such wonderful friends!
Friendship that will last a lifetime
No, you should not be listening to music during class, but you need them for any free time you have. If you have to take the bus, have a study hall, go to the library, or have lunch, you are going to want to have earbuds so that you can block out the sound and jam or focus.
#2 An Agenda that Works for YOU
Every person writes differently. Depending on how much your write and how much homework you get (lol), you might need a bigger or smaller agenda. Get one that will brighten up your day, and will make you want to actually use it. It is so important to stay organized in high school. In the past if you were able to memorize what you had to get done, your method might not work any more.
I find that I feel better when I go to bed and wake up knowing that I have completed all my homework and that I am not missing any assignments.
#3 A Sturdy Backpack
By mid freshman year my backpack was weighing way more than I wanted to. I am talking upward 40lbs. I was not even putting textbooks in my backpack. Between the 7+ classes I was taking I accumulated a lot of weight in my backpack, and lucky for me I have my North Face backpack, that I am still using today. You don't want an uncomfortable backpack that will make your back and shoulders hurt more than they need too.
#4 Go too Lazy Outfit
If you are really into what you wear each day you will set your outfit out the nigh before. Though sometimes you slip, or you get to bed too late and don't have time to pick one out for the morning. Let that day be a lazy outfit day. Have a t-shirt, sweatshirt, and leggings ready to go that is comfy, and cute for any moment that you might need it.
#5 Reusable Water Bottle
As you probably are not getting enough sleep most nights, drinking water is super important. Making sure that you stay hydrated during the school day will make you feel so much better. Having a insulated reusable water bottle is super great for constantly drinking water. You can even put some lemon in it if you don't like water.

Thanks for stopping by Blonde in Pink! This is a spot for me to share everything from fashion to travel. I am currently based out of Philly but I am always visiting new places. If I had two words to describe my fashion it would be "Boho Chic". I started this blog in 2015 with inspiration to share my fashion ideas with friends and family, and soon Blonde in Pink began.
